The partition of CO(2) between plasma and corpuscles in oxygenated and reduced blood.

چکیده
IT has been shown by Zuntz(l), Alexander Schmidt(2), and Fre'de'ricq(3)2, that the serum of blood contains more C02 than the corpuscles. On the other hand, it is stated that if C02 acts on the serum and corpuscles which have been separated from one another, then the corpuscles contain more C02 than the serum. This has been explained by an interchange of acid and basic radicles between corpuscles and serum which is considered to occur naturally in the blood. Such an interchange is supported by Ham b urger' s experiments (4), and also confirmed by those of Van Slyke and Cullen(5), which showed that treating blood with C02 caused the plasma to lose chlorine which must have entered the corpuscles. Quite recently d e Bo e r (6) has shown that there is also a loss of sulphate from the plasma under these conditions. In the present research the attempt has been made to study systematically the partition of C02 between corpuscles and plasma at different C02 pressures in human blood. 1 The expenses of this investigation were defrayed by a grant from the Royal Society. 2 See also Loewy's account in Oppenheimer's Hdb. d. Effects of lead nitrate on histo-cytological alterations of corpuscles of Stannius of stinging catfish, Heteropneustes fossilis
Background: The present study investigated the effects of lead nitrate on the histo-cytological changes in the corpuscles of Stannius (CS) of Heteropneustes fossilis. Methods: Catfish, Heteropneustes fossilis were subjected to 657.6 mg/L and 164.4 mg/L of lead nitrate for 96 h and 28 days, respectively. Blood from fish was collected on 24, 48, 72 and 96 h in short-term and after 7, 14, 21, an...
متن کاملThe Effect of Resistance Training on Plasma Levels of Endothelin 1 and Blood Pressure in Older Men
Introduction: Endothelin 1, which is secreted by vascular endothelial cells, has been identified as the most potent vasoconstrictor. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a course of endothelin-1 plasma resistance training and its relationship with blood pressure in older men. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 30 elderly men (mean age 62.28 ± 8.08 years, height 17...
متن کاملReduced Blood with Identical CO Content : Effect of Acid and Oxidant on CO Response
A sensitive gas chromatographic method for blood CO determination was used to analyze samples of reduced and oxygenated blood having identical low CO content. Oxygenated blood always released more CO than did the reduced samples when neutral ferricyanide was used as oxidant. Several reagents for CO release from blood were applied to both oxygenated and reduced samples. CO release by K3Fe(CN)6 f...
متن کاملSaffron improved depression and reduced homocysteine level in patients with major depression: A Randomized, double-blind study
Objectives: A correlation between hyperhomocysteinemia, and depression has been reported. Saffron (Crocus sativus) is recommended for treatment of depression; hence, in this study the effect of co-administration of saffron and fluoxetine on plasma homocysteine and depression was evaluated. Material and methods: This was a 4-week randomized and double-blind clinical trial which was conducted fro...
متن کاملThe Partition of Non-protein Nitrogen in the Blood of Fresh Water Fish
The introduction of microchemical methods has made possible many biological investigations which were formerly precluded by the di5culty of obtaining sufficient amounts of material. This has been the case with studies on the blood and urine of fish. The only accurate quantitative chemical data are found in the recent papers of Dr. Denis’ on marine fish, where she reports results which indicate ...
